Revelation 10

Revelation Chapter 10

Revelation 10:1-4
The Mighty Angel
(Here we come upon a break from the action of meeting characters)
The 6th trumpet has been blown and we are waiting for the 7th
  • The Mighty Angel...an Angel or messenger
  • Robed in a cloud
  • Rainbow above God's head signifying mercy and promise (even in God's wrath there is mecy!)
  • In His hands He holds an open book (Not the 7 sealed book, but a little book
  • Right foot in the sea, left foot on the land
  • His shout...like the roar of a lion
  • Thunders answer back...(Do you wonder what they say? I do! hmmm, but it is sealed!)
The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29

Revelation 10:5-7
TIME is no longer!
  • John is forbidden to write what the 7 thunders spoke
  • Time is no longer! There is no more delay
  • Mystery: Not something we must find out or hidden, but a revealed Old Testament prophecy by Old Testament prophets
  • Talking about a glorious return of God's Son the Messiah...Jesus Christ! (many are already fulfilled and many more to come)
Revelation 10:8-11
Eat the Book! The Bible!
Not referring to the scroll, for Jesus is the only one worthy to open the scroll)
  • Take and eat the Book (Take the Word of Life, The Bible, so that we may be able to share it with others)
And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.  Ezekiel 3:3

So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me. Ezekiel 3:14

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. Jeremiah 15:16

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. Proverbs 16:24

  • The Word of God is sweet tot he taste, but at times bitter to deliver.
  • Bitter in the stomach-much wisdom brings much sorrow
For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
Ecclesiastes 1:18

Go ahead be a misfit for Jesus, for the world will look upon one who lives the Word as misfit.
The world loves it's own, and what God has to share is  difficult to swallow. The message of judgment is hard to believe.
SHUN RELEVANCE
  • The Angel says, you are not done John!
  • The book symbolizes God's Word.
Balance life with spiritual food from the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, prayer, fellowship with God's family, sharing God's Word with others.

Song of Solomon 1:4

Son 1:4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.

Draw me...sow, scatter, prolong, develop, to march to delay...give, stretch out...basically to do whatever it takes to bring us close to Him...then we will run after and follow hard.
When we rush to be close, and are brought into intimate communion with the King of our life, we will be glad..in a sense, spin around with joyful emotion, because of our time in His presence, and will remember His love more than anything the world has to offer. The best the world has to offer is wine, and it is a mocker!

The world offers....false peace, false love, emptiness, even though it looks like it comes in a nice package. When our eyes are drawn off of our Lord and Savior we become discontent with our lives, and turn to other things we think will satisfy us. The neighbors husband, the neighbors car, alcohol, or drugs.

The upright...those that are walking the straight and narrow, they love thee, they love Jesus. They love to be close to Him and in His presence, close to Him in the inner chambers...enter into His presence with thanksgiving! Enter His courts with praise! Find solace in His arms, and rest in Him.

All because of Jesus

The reality of hell could have brought Jesus here
The reality of our pain and suffering could have brought Jesus here.
The reality of sin could have brought Jesus here.
But it was none of these things.
It was LOVE for us that brought Jesus here.
It was His love for you and me that held him on the cross.
One word and Angels would have taken Jesus off the cross gently.
But out of His love for you and me,
Jesus allowed the nails to keep Him on the cross long enough to shed His blood,
to pour Himself out just to wash us clean.
And yet some will choose to step out from under the cleansing flow
of the only thing that can wash away sin, and step into hell willingly.
Stop, drop, and roll into the arms of Jesus right now.
This very moment….

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.

What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

Don't forget your Armor!

Armor of God by R. Johnson
Armor of God

Ephesians 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

2 Corinthians 10:5

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

A majority of spiritual warfare is fought in the mind. It’s kind of like a fish swimming up stream…As you watch a salmon swim up stream against the current it seems to do so with ease. As the salmon comes to the base of the falls the water neither the rocks, nor the incline stop it from battling forward. I have even heard of salmon jumping out of cannels and into the original area of a stream after man changed the flow of the stream.

If we are walking in the Spirit, we can expect opposition. If it is against God’s word it is opposition. This shows us the responsibility of reading the Bible so we know what it says.

The Holy Spirit and God’s word are what leads and guides a Christian. God shows us our path in His word and even gives us light and lets us know where to step. He gives us armor to use in this battle. Are we using it?

The battle is won or lost in the mind. Put on the whole armor of God! Each piece is important! These are not just verses to memorize to earn points with God or Bible bucks!

Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
(Truth and righteousness protect the very core of you, put it on!)
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
(as we walk in peace toward others we can share the gospel with them and should be prepared to do just that)

Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
( above all, walk in faith! Wear it like a shield that can be held and moved about you to repel the darts of the enemy..that means this is an active motion, always on guard)

Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
(A helmet protects your head against injury…if you are a child of God, a helmet of salvation reminds you of your salvation and that you can stand in the promises of God. Do you know the abundance of promises that are written in the word to encourage you?…NO? Start digging!)

(The sword of the Spirit is the word of God! It is sharper than a two edged sword and can cut to the core…use it wisely. It is our only offensive weapon)

Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching there unto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
(The prayer of the saints…God bends down low to hear you pray! Is that awesome or what? If God hears us, and we know He does… and we are abiding in Him, then if God be for us than no one can stand against us! KNOW THAT.
TRUST JESUS to battle for you. You can trust Him. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us in prayer even if all we can do is groan out a prayer…He interprets our groanings.
Barnes commented…. “The Spirit greatly aids or supports us in those deep emotions, those intense feelings, those inward sighs which cannot be expressed in language, but which he enables us to bear, and which are understood by Him that searcheth the hearts.”

Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places!
Be Strong and courageous, put on the whole armour, remember who your enemy is.

Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

STAND!

I Corinthians 13

LOVE AND ABSOLUTE TRUTH
I Corinthians 13
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

If you put God’s name in place of the word charity/love, this chapter of God’s word still stands as truth BUT if I read it with my name in place of charity/love, it falls flat…don’t laugh put your own name in their and see what it sounds like.
Attempting to walk in love is impossible without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23 (The fruit of the Spirit is love) Because Jesus died for me because He loves me…
(Which is enough to make heart skip a few beats with love when I think of him)
Then I can love Him in return only because He has given me the capability to love.
We love because He first loved us I John 4:19

It is only by God’s grace that we have an opportunity to receive the free gift of salvation by turning from our own wicked ways an agreeing with God about what sin is. It is the Word of God and His Holy Spirit that reveals these things to us. The word of God is absolute truth. If you do not believe in absolute truth…are you absolutely sure?

Has love waxed cold?

Have you noticed the lack of Christian love between brothers and sisters in Christ.
Not a superficial love of cordiality, but a love that suffers wrong, a love that considers others better than ourselves. I am not surprised at this, as God told me the love of many will wax cold in these last days, it just hurts to see it lived out.
It makes me think of the Apostle John who went through so much and still at the end of his life writes, my little children let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and truth. Not just talking about love with each other, but actually forebearing one anothers faults, truly forgiving, praying for, exhorting and ministering to others. When this love is done in “truth” it is done whole-heartedly, without grudging.
In living this way we can be hurt deeply, but we have not suffered unto blood as Jesus has.
Have we become a soft selfish nation, with no time, let alone love for others?
Has the lack of love infiltrated your church or life and affected it?
What are you doing to change this?

Are your hands busy?

Proverbs 31:13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
I just love the fall months, when the weather cools and it's not to warm to have a project on your lap. I have a basket or bag near every sitting area in the house with different projects that I have begun. I don't worry too much about when they will be finished as I usually only pick them up while resting or when the family wants to watch a movie, although now a days a usually hold the granddaughter and take her to my room and sing her to sleep. It's a burden us Grandmothers just have to bare :)
When Baby is not here, I work on the crocheting, or the sewing, or the embroidery project, and then there is one more added project which is writing. It is so nice to have things to share with others by just using my time wisely and keeping my hands busy.
Each one of us is a work in progress. God "knit" us together in our mother's womb, and he placed us in the family He wanted us in, and called us, and wooed us to Himself as we grew to continue the work He began in us. We are His workmanship, created for good works that have been preordained by God. That doesn't make us robots that have to do as He say, but, in love, we do the good works that He lays before us, that the Holy Spirit guides us to. So the next time you are prompted to give that friend or Mother in Law a call, do it, the next time the Holy Spirit puts that strange thought of LOVE in your head, act upon it. Mail that letter, bake that cake, shake that hand, smile that smile, for it creates a tapestry of love that only God can create with such lasting beauty.

Never give up hope!

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me,
to give every man according as his work shall be.
Revelation 22:12

I am reminded of the Psalmist that said..What is man that You are mindful of him?

The God of the Universe wants to commune with us, with the very heart of sinners! As we walk through this life, we must remember that God is in control. Nothing is too big or small for our God to take care of. As we study the love letters God has left for us we are conformed more and more in to His image. As we continue on our journey through this life with our Lord we must walk by faith, for without faith it is impossible to please God.

Salvation brings light to the darkened soul and it lights a fire within the heart and warms us with God's love. The realization of God's love for us burns within and overflows to those around us. God's love for us also grips our hearts and brings us close to our Maker, God Almighty, Jesus, the lover of our souls, and that love wells up inside of us and breaks out in praise and worship of our Creator. The joy and fellowship we share with Him compares to none other.

As we come to this point in our lives we can say from deep within our souls...

Nevertheless, Thy will be done, just as Jesus did before He went to the cross
in obedience to His Father, our of love for us.

Truly His love for us tells us that we were on His mind as He hung on the cross,
and bought us with His own blood.

"A deeper relationship there cannot be, than with the One who died for me"

What is Love?

WHAT IS LOVE?
Do we really know what love is in this media driven age?
In today’s media love is portrayed more like a fairly tale of romance or lust.

But the Bible tells us…
…the fruit of the Spirit is love… joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Gal 5:22 -23

We cannot judge the heart of others. We have no way of knowing if the love of God abides in them unless there is fruit that grows in their lives. Our neighboring state of Washington has beautiful apple orchards, and I love to go pick them, but I cannot once remember ever hearing an apple tree ever straining to produce a most beautiful luscious piece of fruit. The tree’s roots grow deep and provide the tree with life giving sap. The tree relies on water, sunshine, nutrients from the soil, is pruned, stands in all kinds of weather, quietly brings forth fruit, just in time for someone else to come along and pluck that beautiful ornament off and enjoy.
The many faceted fruits of love can only be produced by the Holy Spirit alive and active within our own hearts. Pretty fruit hung from a pine tree will look good for awhile, but will eventually rot. We cannot produce beautiful fruit by ourselves. It takes the power of God in our lives. May we abide in Christ and Christ in us that we may be rooted and grounded in love, so that our lives will produce much fruit for the honor and glory of God.

Why love? …because Jesus first loved us.
Because if we don’t…
… if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. Galatians 5:15
