Revelation Chapter 9
5th Trumpet Rev 9:1
A star falls (past tense) (had fallen from heaven)
Star called “him” to him was given the key to the bottomless pit
Star acts with intelligence (not a twinkle-twinkle)
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!(Lucifer, oh Day star)

Satan King of the Fallen Angels
King of the angels
Satan himself
Given keys to the Abyss
The bottomless pit
Not hell of Lake of Fire
Angels being held there
Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
Opened Bottomless pit Rev 9:1-2
Worst of worst are released (by power of God)
Demons are fallen angels (These locked away for a long time)
It’s gonna be ugly! When all are released on the whole planet
In 1600’s Bubonic Plague 1 out of 4 died
(If you went back in time and said it was the fleas on the rats, they would not believe you, many do not believe the demons are real today)

It’s demons
If we say “demon activity” people call us crazy
Demons are at work today causing people to experience depression, emotional stress…
Eph 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
Eph 6:2 - Honour thy father and mother,.... This explains who parents are, and points at some branches of obedience due unto them; for they are not only to be loved, and to be feared, and reverenced, their corrections to be submitted to, offences against them to be acknowledged, their tempers to be bore with, and their infirmities covered; but they are to be honoured in thought, word, and gesture; they are to be highly thought of and esteemed; they are to be spoken to, and of, very honourably, and with great veneration and to be behaved to in a very respectful manner; and they are to be relieved, assisted, and maintained in comfortable way when aged, and in necessitous circumstances; and which may be chiefly designed. So the Jews explain כבוד, "the honour" due to parents, by, &c. מאכיל, "giving them food, drink", and "clothing", unloosing their shoes, and leading them out and in (x). Compare with this 1Ti_5:4; See Gill on Mat_15:4;~~Gill

Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
(Much in our society is Demonic)
(world calls it syndromes or diseases)

Sun and Air Darkened by Smoke Rev 9:3-4
Like a huge volcano
The smoke will cover the earth
Locusts come out of the smoke (demons)
Power like scorpions …STING
These are not your everyday common locusts

Not common scorpions
· They eat no vegetation/greenery
· Locusts have no king…these do
· Literal creatures and resembles lion, horse, scorpion,and a man.
· (These came from ….the pit)
· Objects of their torment…unbelieving mankind
· Loosed from the pit by satan himself…he is a hard task master

Death takes a holiday Rev 9:5-6
· They won’t kill but will torment for 5 months ( hard hearts still following the source of their misery
· Sting and pain of a scorpion, very painful
· People will want to die but won’t be able to
· Satan still wants these hard hearts around fro the final battle
· Ezekial 28 a matter of pride not intellect on satans part

But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
And shall begin to smite his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Mat 24:37-51

The church is already gone during this the above time mentioned…God is speaking to the Jews

Bizarre Grotesque Demons Rev 9:7-10
Just plain unnatural and Demonic
Faces like men’s faces
The antennae like a woman’s hair
Teeth like that of a lion
5 long months of agony fro those who are attacked
by these demonic creatures

As we read these words there is a lesson for us NOW
We are in a spiritual battle NOW, put on your armor!
Stand and fight in prayer Christian.
And don’t forget who the real enemy is.
Stand Fast!

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Ephesians 6:10-18

Adaddon-Apolloyon Rev 9:11-12
Both mean destruction/destroyer
(Creation shows hierarchy from mankind down to ameba
Hierarchy in Angels and Demons as well)
Demon locusts have a king over them…this is not natural
The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands
Proverbs 30:27
Locusts king is angel over bottomless pit
Locusts king leads horde of locusts on invasion of earth for the first time in all of history

One woe is past
(You ain’t seen nothin’ yet)
End of the first woe
Mankind going through much pain and suffering
Five months worth of pain and suffering
Demons are released from the pit
But wait…there is more coming

6th Trumpet Rev 9 13-14

· Golden altar speaks of prayer of the saints in chapter 8 of Revelation
· Command from Jesus…
· Loose the 4 angels (demons) in the River Euphrates
(This last command of judgment comes directly from Jesus)


Four Angels Released
· More judgment is coming
· These are extremely evil angels
· They have been locked up all this time
· Even kept away from the other demons as well as mankind
· (It is extreme mercy that these have been held back till now!)
· Euphrates River Rev 9:15-16
Euphrates River has been the boundary between east and west
· Seems a restraining influence has been keeping east and west apart.
(soon this restraining power will be no more)
· Napoleon said…”China is a sleeping giant and God pity the generation that wakes her”

Angels held captive for s specific number of HDMY
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Psalm 90:12
To the very precise moment in time God has held them back
(Their purpose is to kill 1/3 of all people)
1/3 already removed from planet in previous judgments
already seen ½ population killed
(Remember these people choose to be here at this time out of the hardness of their hearts against a loving God)

Matthew 24:22
These days are shortened for the sake of the elect
Armageddon will be the first complete world war
Size of the army is 200,000,000
(China is boasting this now….read the end of the book…God has already won)

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before. Matthew 24:21-25

Remember John describes as best he can what it looked like to him
Breast plate of fire and jacinth
Some say tanks of robot soldiers
Remember this is demonic

Fire Smoke and Brimstone
· Literal fire smoke and Brimstone
· God literally destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah
· Open talk of homosexuality basically is accepted behavior planet wide today
These last days….


· However…This will come to an abrupt end
· This is the truth of the word of God…not made up reality

Unatural Rev 9:19-21
(Demonic judgment and yet no repentance)
Demonic activity ruled over by satan
Demonic invasion

Still no repentance
John gives a list of sins not repented of…
20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

Idol Worship-Devil Worship
People will continue on with Business and usual
Science worshipped as God today
Sorceries: Phamakeion…drugs for pleasure
Looks like drugs are not controlled during the tribulation period
Remember mankind will be suffering greatly and be in great pain
Drugs and alcohol will be abused in hopes of any kind of relief
Fornication and Robbery
Sexual sin is rampant
Robbery is a way of life
Yet mankind will continue in sin in spite of judgment
(Drug and alcohol use makes one less inhibited)

If you don’t know Jesus and He doesn’t know you, then surrender your heart to him now, because you don’t want to be here when all of this begins.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. I John 5:13

2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
A great departure…from truth or from the earth???

144.00 will be witnesses of Jesus for 7 years on earth during TRIB
Millions will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ during Great Trib

These are Literal judgements

Second Trumpet Rev 8:8-9
Something as large as a mountain fall into the ocean
1/3 of all sea life dies
1/3 of all ships are destroyed
(the stench in the seas YUCK and shipping will be affected)

The third trumpet Rev 8:10-11
Star from heaven and outer space falls from sky (Possibly nuclear)
1/3 third of all fresh water-polluted
Name of Star is wormwood
In Russian Wormwood is “Chernobyl”
Waters are poisonous and many will die

The fourth trumpet Rev 8:12
1/3 part of Sun is smitten (Dimmed)
as well as 1/3 of all stars and the moon
(Possibly less heat and light from a nuclear fall out)

WOES Rev 8:13
Angels fly through the midst of heaven
Woe, Woe, Woe……Calamity troubles judgments
Three more judgements to come
Greater intensity with next three
First 4 trumpets dealt with natural
Next 3 are the spiritual realm (Demonic)
Remember angels are warring right now
All this was written in the Bible for all to read, 2,000 years of warning and yet…many will be surprised when it happens.

Tribulation Period

Chapter 6-19 describe the 7 yr Tribulation period coming upon the whole world
Jesus called it the hour of Temptation on the whole world
Tribulation is result of mankind’s sin and rebellion against the Lord God and His word.

The result of sin Jeremiah 2:17-19

Jer 2:17 Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?
Jer 2:18 And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?

It’s not God’s fault sinful man has brought it on himself

The First Seal (Revelation 6:1-2)
Enter ….The Anti Christ
Remember Satan is an imitator
First Seal Begins the Tribulation...Jesus is at the throne (Standing)
The church is now in heaven and Jesus no longer sitting and making intercession for us.. no more need for we are at His side!
(Unleashing the wrath of God)
The Lamb who is worthy.. Jesus
White Horse symbol of victory
Roman leaders world tide in on a white horse after this victory against enemies
“STEPHANOS”- wreath or garland of a winner
Victor of Olympic games received a lesser crown than a diadem which Jesus will wear
“DIADEM” A Kingly Crown which Jesus will return the prophecy of Zechariah comes about in Revelation 19
Zec 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Rev 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Rev 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.


Not Jesus on this Horse (Revelation 6:1-2)

Wrong Kind of crown
Brings false peace not real peace
Jesus in heaven and is in control of all events and Opens First Seal
Jesus return is a triumphant one and will stop war and sits on the throne of David
Jesus Christ returns at the end of Tribulation

Anti-Christ on White Horse
After the rapture of Church
First Seal opened by Jesus in heaven
First person to ride forth is Anti Christ bringing a temporary peace to the Middle East
He conquers Europe by uniting then European Nations
And finally the world under 666 world unity

Rev 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
Rev 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
Rev 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
Rev 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
Rev 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Rev 13:9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
Rev 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
Rev 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
Rev 13:12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
Rev 13:13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
Rev 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Rev 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.


Daniel the Prophet Revelation 6:1-2
Prince will come making a 7 year peace treaty with Israel and her enemies
II Thessalonians 2:11
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
World will be relieved
Dan 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
By Peace the Anti Christ will deceive many
Being lulled into a false sense of security they will be fooled and destroyed
The Anti Christ keeps BAD company


The Second Seal Revelation 6:3-4
Opened Second seal…in rides the Red Horse
Red Horse follows the Anti Christ
Power was given to him to take peace for the earth
Anti Christ will bring false Temporary peace (not lasting peace)
There has not been a full year of peace on earth since Jesus ascended to Heaven
Red Horse of War
Given a great small sword
Sword= “machaira” small sword like dagger
This is not a war implement (Enemy not thinking major Battle)
Possibly Kidnappings, hostage situations, terrorism, roadside bombings
IED= “Improvised Explosive Devices”
Acts of violence around the world, there is coming a time of worldwide terror.

Peace at any Cost
Anyone who believes peace can be achieved through political means is fooling themselves
(The Koran requires what they consider to be infidels to be killed)
James 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
War comes from our own lusts, envy, and jealousy

The Third Seal Revelation 6:5-6
Jesus Opens third seal and in rides…Black Horse with Balances
Black Horse indicates mourning
Rider is carrying a set of scales
Signifies scarcity of food and supplies
Picture of famine…which often follows war
Economic Disruptions of war

Full Days Wage
Would not buy a complete meal
Minimum wage in WA today 7.50 per hour..40 hours= $60.00
That would still not be enough for one meal
Yet oil and wine…(the luxuries of life) will be spared
(cosmetics and liquor/ Vanity and drinking
Psalm 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
The Holy Spirit will go back to an Old Testament type of working (coming upon a believer)
The Fourth Seal Revelation 6:7-8
Sin stinks and the stench will rise to the throne of God
In Rides the PALE Horse
Pale Horse a pukey pale yellowish green color
Only rider with a name “DEATH” and Hell to follow
Pestilence , war and famine
¼ of all living people will die
Almost 7 Billion on earth now = 1.750,000,000 will die
Almost 2 BILLION
Death followed by Hell
Hell: Hades= The place where the spirit goes If that person is lost (without Jesus)
NOT THE LAKE OF FIRE
Place of torment waiting for judgment
Great white throne judgment (The Sentencing)
Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
The Fifth Seal Revelation 6:9-11
Under the altar are the souls of martyrs
The Altar in Heaven…
Isa 6:6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

There are souls under the altar in Heaven
These DO NOT have Resurrected bodies
They are not the Church or the BRIDE of Christ
They are those slain for their faith in Christ
Tribulation Martyrs and Old Testament Martyrs are under the altar in Heaven crying out to God (Altar where Jesus blood is sprinkled)
How long Oh Lord till You avenge our blood?
(Age of Grace over, now LAW) (Get ‘em Lord, knock their teeth out)
The church would cry out for MERCY, not VENGANCE

God’s Holy Law
We the Bride carry the Mercy Seat
Law requires vengeance and pleads for justice
The souls under the altar were given white robes
Told to be patient for many more will die…millions

A Great Earthquake
Unprecedented super natural geographical disturbances
Encompasses entire Universe!
Including all of Creation
Some suggest it describes a nuclear winter like Ezekiel 38 & 39

Nuclear Exchange
Sun darkened so much with dust in the atmosphere as well as outer space to block out light and heat
Moon became as blood (Pollution sunset?)
Stars fall to earth like ripe figs
Tectonic plates completely shifting (As in the days of Noah?)
Peleg lived during the days of Noah.
1Ch 1:19 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; because in his days the earth was divided: (split) and his brother's name was Joktan.

Crying out to the Rocks Revelation 6:15-17
“Tree huggers cry out to Mother nature” she will not be able to save you!
Mankind STILL refuses to cry out to God
Many still worship Nature (Trees and rocks) NOT God
Hearts are so hardened

Hide us
From He that sits on the throne
So hard hearted they refuse to repent
Hide us from anger of the Lamb
Can you picture an angry Lamb?
The great day of His Wrath is come on the earth

Wrath of God

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Wrath of Lamb
Psa 2:10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
Psa 2:11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Psa 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Blessed are they who TRUST IN HIM
Fall on the stone and you will be broken
Stone falls on you and you will be crushed

War against Sin
God declared war long ago
Will take the church out of and away from the wrath of God
The World continues to reject God’s peace and grace
War against sin

Jesus is His Dearly beloved Son…Listen to HIM!
God’s wrath will be poured out completely

So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD. And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle's son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.
And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances. So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open:
And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.
And I charged Baruch before them, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.
For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land. Jeremiah 32:6-15

God holds the title deed of Creation

Who is worthy to open the scroll?
Verse 2-4
No man is worthy to open the scroll
To open a seal initiates judgment on others (Only Jesus will meet out Justice)
John weeps (no one found worthy)
Will this ugliness ever end?

One of elders tells John “weep not”
Lion of the tribe of Judah is here!
Root of David
Jesus is the only one who has right to the title deed of Creation
(He bought it with His blood) Thank you Jesus!!


Lamb
Verse 6-7
John sees a Lamb as it has been slain scars (carrying the ideas of being slain violently)
Seen in the midst/among the elders
With 7 horns denoting power and authority
7 eyes represent complete knowledge
Jesus takes the scroll from the Fathers Hand

All Heaven Worships
Verse 8-10
With Harps (Oh Lord I hope lessons come with it) J
(carry the idea of praise
Vials of Odors-the prayers of the saints –a sweet sacrifice
Listen to the words of the song of Praise…
Rev 5:9-10 Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
The words indicate this can only be the church the Bride singing this song
YOU oh Lord have redeemed us to God by YOUR blood and YOU have made us a kingdom of priests to our GOD. (Literally we will reign over the earth.)

Angels Join in Praise
Verses 11-14
Millions and Millions Praising God
Every Soul and Spirit there are praising God
24 Elders (Church) are praising God..(The Father the Son and the Holy Spirit)
Seals will begin to be opened by the only one worthy…Jesus
Everything is controlled from Heaven.

Historical Background….
John the Apostle wrote Revelation
Brother of James, son of Zebedee
Worked on dads boat, mending nets on Sea of Galilee

John the youngest disciple. Jesus called James and John “the Sons of Thunder”
Because they were a bit rowdy (Mark 3:17)

Most Scholars believe Revelation was written around 95-96
Some think earlier. Liberals say John never mentions destruction of Jerusalem. Titus and Roman legions attacked and destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD
Quote from early church Fathers write ”John was banished to island of Patmos and remained there for 14 years
Until his death under Emperor Domelian 96 AD
The Emperor tried to boil John in oil. He was the only disciple not to die a violent death.
John was banished to Patmos because of rumors that he would never die.

In “Things to come” (Apostolic Fathers)…Three Witnesses…

Clement of Alexandria
In his book “Who is the Rich man” said John returned from the Island of Patmos when Emperor Diocletian died.
Eweiebius? “Eccelestical History”
Also stated Hon returned in 96 ad after death of Domentian

Iranaious—In “Against Hereies” Confirms John returns to Ephesus until rign of Trajan the Emporor

John Pastored church in Ephesus before being banished to Patmos and after his message was “Beloved….LOVE ONE ANOTER”

John probably wrote Revelation first, then Gospel of John and 1,2,3 John

In scripture, fear is used to express a filial or a slavish passion. In good men, the fear of God is a holy awe or reverence of God and his laws, which springs from a just view and real love of the divine character, leading the subjects of it to hate and shun every thing that can offend such a holy being, and inclining them to aim at perfect obedience. This is filial fear.

Acts Chapter 12

Acts 12

As Herod killed James and learned it pleased men, he proceeded further and captured Peter intent on killing him after Easter. So Peter was kept in prison. Ahh, but this gave Christians time to pray, and pray they did continually! Meanwhile Peter slept in prison, chained between two guards, God went to work.
While Peter slept soundly, (can we sleep soundly during a time like this in our lives?)
God sent an angel to wake Peter and told him to arise and then the chains fell off from his hands. “Quick get dressed and follow me” said the Angel, and while Peter followed the angel Peter couldn’t believe it was all true, it seemed like a vision or dream. When Peter came to himself he realized he was on the outside and free.

So Peter journeyed on to the house of Mary the mother of John and knocked on the door. When the servant girl heard Peter’s voice on the other side of the door she was so excited that she forgot to open the door but ran straight in to the house to tell all inside who were praying that Peter was alive. In the meantime Peter was still knocking, so they all rushed to the door to let him in, they were all astonished so Peter tried to quiet them all to tell his story of deliverance at the hand of the angel. Word was sent out to James and other believers.

Meanwhile back at the jail, the soldiers were up in arms as a prisoner lost on their watch meant death to those responsible. Herod was sorely displeased with the outcome and had the soldiers killed.

On a scheduled day and appointed time, Herod, the orator that he was, sat on his throne and addressed the people in all his finery. The people in turn showered Herod with beautiful flattery as was the custom as they desired peace even if it meant flattery at all costs.
The people shouted unto Herod…”Your voice is as the voice of god, and not of a man”
They were pouring it on pretty thick, and Herod drank it in.

However…

The Bible says that …immediately…the angel of the Lord knocked Herod down.
Why? Because Herod did not give God the glory, but took it for himself!
Not only was Herod knocked down but he died a tortuous death being devoured by worms. Not a pretty picture.
The life of Herod ended, but the word of God which Herod tried to silence, grew and spread and multiplied! The hearts of men were strengthened, the enemies were humbled, and those who opposed and attacked the work of God were filled with fear.

Today in History…
1839 - Scottish clergyman Robert Murray McCheyne wrote in a letter: 'There is nothing like a calm look into the eternal world to teach us the emptiness of human praise.'

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Jude 1:24-25
